Nuendo 5

Nuendo 5 is the world’s number one in native audio postproduction, with a superior feature set that surpasses all your expectations. What’s New in Nuendo 5?

Spot and organize: Nuendo 5 allows the engineer to comprehensively spot and organize recording takes, such as for multiple roles by using a flexible marker track system. All marker tracks can be sorted and filtered in the marker window, which helps the user to keep the overview on the project. Nuendo 5 also reads CMX 3600 EDL lists provided by the video editor as well as exported and imported CSV formatted spotting and ADR lists.

New video engine: The new native video engine of Nuendo 5 is based on QuickTime. Not only does to provide better performance but also the ability to play out videos in real-time via FireWire, now also on Windows.. The new video settings panel complements this top feature.

Clip Packages: Clip Packages allow the user to organize clusters of audio clips as one clip package file. After choosing an individual selection of audio files within the project in any constellation it can be saved as a handy package for later use. Clip Packages can be inserted to any other point in the project, archived in the MediaBay and can also be ported to another workstation, if needed.

New MediaBay: Nuendo’s powerful file management tool, MediaBay, boasting a graphically reworked user interface to facilitate usability. The enhanced Previewerlets the user pre-listen on events and enables the sounddesigner and editor to select a portion of an event whichcan then simply be dragged into the project.

Smooth scrub wheel: Sound editors are always looking for the best possibility to facilitate precise cutting tasks. With the new Nuendo 5 scrub wheel, precise editing is at the editor’s fingertips and interference noises belong to the past.

Pro Tools audio file compatibility: With Nuendo 5 it’s easy to be industry compatible. For example, dual-mono tracks from Pro Tools can easily be converted to stereo interleaved files for an effective working in Nuendo 5. Edits and fades within the audio material will be retained. An option to split interleaved tracks and files to obtain multi-mono tracks is also provided.

EuCon integration: Nuendo’s deep and unique integration with Euphonix consoles is well-known the world over. The fifth version of Nuendo sees enhancements on the EuCon adapter which allows Euphonix clients to enjoy access to the new Nuendo 5 functions, directly from the surface of their consoles.

Nuendo 5 Direct Routing: Nuendo 5 includes unique mixer enhancements, tailored to professionals working with large film mixing projects. With the new routing capabilities, it is easy to set up multiple routing destinations for channels at a time. This also allows the creation of different mix versions of any session in one go. And, if necessary, up and down mixing is fully automated.

Superior automation system: Nuendo’s automation system is one of the most powerful systems in the world. The new automation system works with an enhanced pass-system which is shown as an undo-tree and enables the user to recall and compare different passes in order to find the ideal automation matching to the material.

Plug-in handling for surround buses: For a surround stem or master, Nuendo’s internal effect plug-ins can be used for sound optimization. However, a user often doesn’t want to modify all channels of a mix, but just a selection. Here, the Nuendo 5 patch editor allows the user to select the channels in a surround mix that should be included or excluded from the processing.

Monitoring Matrix enhancement: Using the extended Monitoring Matrix, the user can listen to individual stems, groups, input or output buses with a single click on the source button from within the Monitoring Matrix window.

Automated Batch Export: Creating continuous audio files in one go has never been easier. Be it some spotted scenes or even all channels of a project for exchange with other DAWs, the Automated Batch Export offers a bunch of possibilities without user interaction needed. For example, several portions of the material can be exported easily by using cycle markers.

Wave Meters: The Nuendo 5 mixer includes a new section called Wave Meters so that the mixer can view the waveforms of the audio events directly within the mixer window.

VariAudio: Designed for vocal editing, VariAudio allows the sound designer to manipulate and correct voices and sounds in real time, from slight timbre corrections to extreme robot sounds.

Surround Panner V5: Nuendo 5 includes possibly the most advanced Surround Panner featured in a DAW. The Surround Panner V5 allows for stunning movements within the surround field, such as rotating rooms or atmospheres according to camera pans. Thanks to the equal power technology a signal can be moved across the speakers with no volume variations in the sound.

Home Recording Studio Design aka Bedroom Studio

Banyak musisi jaman sekarang menyebutkan istilah recording di rumah sebagai home recording tapi ada juga yang menyebutkan studio kamar...mungkin istilah ini jauh lebih tepat dari pada home recording karena memang kita melakukan take recording di dalam sebuah kamar tidur yang pada umumnya mungkin berukuran 3 x 3 meter saja... dibawah ini akan ada sharring tentang Bedroom Studio...terjemahan dr Mr.Google...kurang pas sih kyknya jadi harap dimengerti sendiri deh....perhatikan foto2 yang ada,yakin deh ini akan jadi masukkan buat kita...




Ketika aku sedang membangun sebuah studio rekaman di rumah, saya mengambil waktu saya dan melakukan hal-hal yang hati-hati. Itu tidak sulit, tetapi mengambil perencanaan yang cermat.

Saya melakukan perencanaan dan pertimbangan, dan berikut adalah beberapa hal yang membantu saya. Saya berharap mereka bisa berguna bagi Anda.

Beberapa hal pertama. Berapa banyak yang dapat Anda merombak ruangan Anda? Jika sebuah studio rekaman rumah, Anda mungkin renovasi ruang di rumah Anda. Tapi itu bisa menjadi gudang atau bangunan lain (bahkan yang Anda sewa, dengan izin dari tuan tanah, tentu saja!).

Jika Anda dapat melakukan banyak renovasi, membangun sebuah studio rekaman rumah menyenangkan, karena Anda dapat mengontrol hal-hal seperti dinding ganda, pemeriksaan suara, U-boat dan RC-8 saluran, dan lapisan drywall ganda. Bahkan jika Anda tidak bisa melakukan renovasi banyak, hal-hal sederhana yang tidak biaya yang banyak dapat mudah untuk menginstal dan sangat efektif.

Ide-ide pada halaman ini diatur dalam tiga bagian. Pertama datang ide konstruksi dasar yang berkaitan dengan membangun sebuah studio rekaman. Kedua hal-hal tertentu yang berhubungan dengan desain akustik dalam pembangunan. Ketiga, kita melihat perawatan akustik yang dapat diterapkan pada dinding, sudut, dan langit-langit setelah fase konstruksi utama selesai.

Dasar Konstruksi

Ini adalah "bangunan" membangun sebuah studio rekaman di rumah. Bagian ini adalah untuk orang yang dapat melakukan beberapa renovasi dan menyewa kontraktor (atau melakukannya sendiri).
Ketika membangun sebuah studio rekaman di rumah, menggunakan akal sehat dasar untuk dinding membangun, lantai, dan langit-langit yang akan memblokir suara sebanyak mungkin. Ingat, ada dua cara yang sehat dapat melakukan perjalanan - masuk dan keluar. Dalam adalah yang paling penting bagi kita, karena kita tidak ingin suara tambahan muncul pada rekaman kami. Namun mengingat keluar akan membantu untuk menjaga keluarga atau tetangga bahagia.

Akan lebih baik sekarang menyegarkan kembali tentang masalah akustik sekarang, karena kita akan menggunakan lebih dari itu ke depan. Ingat dua gagasan transmisi suara dan refleksi suara.

Pada bagian konstruksi, terdengar aturan transmisi. Tujuannya adalah untuk membangun dinding yang menghalangi sebagai suara banyak terjadi melalui mungkin (dalam batasan ruang, waktu, dan uang). Membangun dinding ganda, satu yang membuat beberapa inci ruang mati kedap udara, berfungsi sebagai solusi pemeriksaan suara akhir. Tapi biasanya tidak praktis. Jadi kita berimprovisasi.

Dinding. 
Membangun studio rekaman rumah memerlukan dinding yang baik.Pemisah adalah kata kunci, tetapi menjadi cerdas. Apakah hal-hal seperti lem dinding kering ke dinding kancing, kapur bebas di mana-mana Anda dapat dari bagian belakang untuk membuat kedap udara di dinding. Isi dengan isolasi (lihat di bawah). Jangan membuat banyak lubang untuk kabel dan barang. Masukan ke lapisan kedua drywall (dan mungkin menggunakan RC-8 saluran, lihat di bawah). Mungkin menggunakan beberapa Sheetblock di atasnya (juga di bawah). Anda dapat pergi ke kesulitan menggunakan dinding 2x6, 2x4 dan kancing yang bergantian antara dua sisi dinding (lihat gambar). Isolasi.
Ide kunci untuk dipertimbangkan: mengisi dinding dengan isolasi selulosa (jenis yang ditiup dalam, bukan dari fiberglass yang datang pada gulungan). Hasilnya adalah memblokir suara lebih (transmisi suara). Aku memeriksa pada peringkat STC dari mereka baik ketika saya membangun studio saya, dan itu jauh lebih baik. Pilihan lainnya adalah untuk pergi dengan insulasi akustik, seperti yang disediakan oleh Auralex. Lihat di bawah.

Juga, menempatkan isolasi di mana-mana Anda bisa. Di dinding, lantai, plafond, di mana saja. Lihat gambar di bawah, menunjukkan selulosa di dinding dan fiberglass di lantai. Tip yang terkait adalah dengan mendempol SEMUA sendi mana kancing memenuhi dinding luar. Hal ini membuat dinding kedap udara, dan meningkatkan pemeriksaan suara. (Ini mungkin ujung paling mudah untuk membangun sebuah studio rekaman rumah saja membuatnya kedap udara..)


Jendela
 Anda mungkin akan ingin jendela jika Anda berencana untuk menggunakan dua kamar. Percayalah, itu layak, kecuali hanyalah sebuah lemari komputer atau sesuatu. Untuk membuat jendela, rencanakan untuk meninggalkan wilayah udara di antara untuk panel.

Untuk kaca jendela, coba pergi ke toko kaca lokal (bertanya di toko perangkat keras jika Anda tidak dapat menemukan satu) dan mendapatkan 1/4 "atau 3/8" panel kaca dipotong dengan ukuran jendela Anda.
Tunggu sampai dinding dibingkai dan dinding kering.
Dapatkan 1x8 dari penjualan kayu dan merobek lebar ke ruang dari jendela (pastikan itu mencakup dua set drywall).

Membersihkan kaca dengan baik, dan tempatkan pada benda penahan pada frame, dan sekrup atau paku potongan kecil ke frame, sehingga memegang kaca di tempatnya.
Ulangi untuk sisi yang lain.
Voila, jendela profesional! 



Lantai.
Kemungkinan besar, Anda dapat membangun di lantai dasar, dengan apa-apa selain crawlspace bawah (atau pada beton). Tapi tidak semua waktu. Saya membangun di lantai dua, jadi saya bekerja untuk membuat kedap suara lantai. Aku mengambil 2x6s dan meletakkan mereka di seberang balok lantai yang ada, dan menempatkan decouplers karet di bawah mereka (lihat Perahu U di bawah). Lalu aku mengikat mereka bersama-sama dengan stringer, atau potongan pendek 2x4, di tempat acak. Lihat gambar di bawah ini. Ini adalah cara yang efektif untuk memisahkan lantai dari struktur, membantu untuk menghilangkan suara-suara bepergian dalam rangka bangunan.




Langit-langit.
  Jika Anda memiliki kamar di lantai atas, ini akan menjadi yang paling sulit. Terus terang, saya tidak tahu cara dalam membangun sebuah studio rekaman rumah untuk menghilangkan suara dari atas, selain membangun plafon, terpisah terpisah. Tapi siapa yang memiliki ruang untuk itu? Satu-satunya cara saya telah menemukan untuk mengurus suara adalah untuk memastikan bahwa tidak ada satu naik ketika saya sedang merekam. Tapi di sini adalah apa yang saya lakukan. Kami menempatkan balok besar di lantai, 2x10s atau 2x12s (saya lupa yang mana), dan mengisi seluruh rongga dengan isolasi. Ini membantu, tetapi tidak sangat mudah. Langit-langit juga mendapat dua lapisan drywall dan satu lapisan Sheetblock.

Dengan "desain akustik" dalam kaitannya dengan membangun sebuah studio rekaman rumah, maksud saya hal-hal yang Anda lakukan dalam konstruksi yang secara khusus dirancang untuk aplikasi akustik dalam membangun sebuah studio rekaman. Ini bukan hal seperti panel busa dan perawatan akustik (yang datang dalam bagian berikutnya), tetapi hal-hal seperti isolasi, dukungan lantai, dan drywall tergantung alat bantu. Berikut adalah pilihan umum yang tersedia bagi seseorang melihat membangun sebuah studio rekaman di rumah.

U-boat. Hal-hal kecil yang menyenangkan dan cukup bagus. Pekerjaan yang memisahkan balok lantai dari subfloor tersebut. Prinsipnya sederhana - sepatu bot ini memuat sekitar balok lantai dan meletakkannya di lantai yang ada. Karet meredam setiap getaran, dan menangani guncangan mengembara yang ingin masuk ke rekaman. Berikut ini adalah gambar yang menunjukkan mereka digunakan.

Drywall gantung saluran (RC-8 Channel). Jika Anda sedang membangun sebuah studio rekaman rumah dan menempatkan di dinding, pasti memberikan ini alat kecil tembakan. Seperti disebutkan sebelumnya, sebuah wilayah udara di antara dua dinding sangat efektif dalam menambah STC atau faktor pemeriksaan suara dinding. RC-8 saluran adalah cara mudah untuk mencapai ini tanpa membangun dinding kedua.

Inilah yang terjadi. Sekrup ini ke dinding yang ada, berjalan tegak lurus dengan kancing dinding. Maka sekrup drywall baru ke dalam trek. Mereka memastikan 1/2 "wilayah udara dan merupakan cara termudah untuk menempatkan sebuah wilayah udara di dinding. Berikut adalah gambar dari mereka digunakan (saya menginstal mereka dinding dengan isolasi selulosa, dan mesh untuk menahannya di tempat).

Isolasi. Kami berbicara tentang isolasi sebelumnya, jadi hal yang baru di sini. Bagian akustik khusus adalah Serat isolasi Mineral Auralex, yang saya memilih untuk tidak menggunakan di studio saya. 2 "tebal, dan 4" tebal. Aku yakin itu karya besar, tapi bagi saya biaya tidak membenarkan upgrade dari isolasi selulosa.

Sheetblock. Ah ya, semua orang membangun sebuah studio rekaman rumah harus tahu tentang Sheetblock. Ini adalah lembaran karet yang datang pada roll. Tujuannya adalah untuk memperkenalkan lebih banyak massa pada dinding dalam paket, tipis kecil. Produk ini akan menempel ke dinding, biasanya di lapisan dalam dinding. Sheetblock cukup untuk menambah tingkat STC dinding tetapi sangat tipis. Hal ini membuat ideal untuk perawatan kecil tapi efektif. Ini berat. Lihat beberapa sheetblock pada gambar konstruksi jendela - itu hal karet hitam antara papan.


Acoustical Treatment

Membangun studio rekaman rumah belum berakhir! Setelah bagian konstruksi selesai, studio biasanya membutuhkan beberapa jenis manajemen di dinding dan langit-langit untuk mengontrol refleksi dalam kamar. Solusi di atas berusaha untuk mengendalikan suara yang datang ke ruang (transmisi suara), ini adalah untuk suara sudah dalam ruangan (refleksi suara). Solusi ini akustik berlaku untuk masalah tersebut.

SETTING SOUNDCARD FOCUSRITE DI WINDOWS XP

Memaksimalkan Hasil Mixing dan Mastering

Banyak sound engineer menginginkan hasil mixing yg  keren abis, biar bisa kayak Sound Engineer di luar negeri ato paling nggak bisa menandingi Mas Indra Q ato Joseph Manurung ato beberapa Sound Engineer lainnya,,padahal testi mereka plugin yg mereka pake juga banyak yg versi free alias gratisan dan bukan bajakan.... paling tidak ada beberapa hal yang bisa dipetik dari twitter2 mereka,yaitu :

1. Memaksimalkan pengetahuan tentang DAW.....
    Banyak Sound Engineer bilang Cubase bagus, Nuendo keren,,, Protols T.O.P BGT, Logic Pro keren,,, tapi bagi Sound Engineer sejati mengenali DAW secara maksimal adalah hal yang paling pokok karena dengan mengenal DAW maka kita bisa memaksimalkan penggunaan DAW itu,,, dan mengenal DAW itu butuh waktu 4 - 5 tahun.

2.  Memaksimalkan pengetahuan akan frekuensi
     Frekuensi adalah basis dari mixing ,,,, di mana penggunaan frekuensi untuk High pass filter atau Low pass filter, frekuensi berapa untuk cut bass, treble, dan lain sebagainya yang berhubungan dengan frekuensi mutlak harus diketahui oleh seorang Sound Engineer. Equalising, panning, Balancing yang baik sudah dapat membuat hasil mixing anda lebih menonjol.

3. Penggunaan Plugin Vsti,RTAS, TDM
    Plugin memang harus digunakan tetapi kita harus tau untuk apa plugin tersebut apakah cocok untuk bass, untuk drum atau untuk vokal dan lain sebagainya. Penggunaan plugin yang salah akan berakibat buruknya hasil mixing... tidak semua plugin seperti UAD atau waves baik kalau kita tidak tau cara menggunakannya.

4. Musikalitas
    Seorang Sound Engineer wajib memiliki musikalitas yang tinggi karena tugas berat seorang Sound Engineer adalah menghasilkan lagu yang memiliki dinamika yang baik sehingga pesan dan kesan lagu sampai ke telinga dan hati pendengarnya....daya analisis seorang SE harus tajam, tidak hanya menguasai satu alat tertentu tapi wajib juga bisa arransir sebuah lagu karena SE mengorganisir lagu sehingga lagu tersebut benar-benar hidup.

Win XP Tweaking Tips

This is one of the few essential Windows XP tweaks, since it benefits the performance of ASIO drivers, which run as background tasks.
Navigate to the Advanced page of the System applet. Click on the Performance Settings button, select its Advanced tab and click on 'Background Services' for Processor Scheduling


For anyone using ASIO drivers (and nowadays that includes just about every PC musician), this is the most essential tweak of all, because ASIO drivers run as background services in Windows. Music software and hardware developers Steinberg rely on this setting to ensure low latency without dropouts, and you may be able to run your audio interface at a significantly lower latency after this tweak. 

Minimise Visual Effects 


System applet, Advanced Tab, Performance Settings button, Visual Effects page, select 'Adjust for best performance'.
This will disable a whole clutch of graphic bells and whistles, the most important of which are the various animations — exploding windows when minimising and maximising, fading and sliding menus, buttons and boxes. These all rely on your computer's processor for the entire duration of their moves, and can therefore tip your PC over the edge when its CPU overhead is already near 100 percent running plug-ins and soft synths.However, 'Adjust for best performance' also disables various other features that are rather more useful and yet impose microscopic overheads. Some musicians still prefer the rectangular Windows Classic look, but you can reinstate the XP look, with its soft-sculpted windows and buttons with rounded corners, by switching to the 'Custom' button on the Visual Effects page and ticking the 'Use visual styles on windows and buttons' option. 

Switch Off Power Schemes 




In the Power Options applet, choose the 'Always On' power scheme. Change the settings for monitor and hard disk turn off and System standby to 'Never', so that your PC doesn't unexpectedly conk out during song playback (see screens below).

The wrong setting here can cripple the processing performance of many modern PCs, because of over-clever power schemes that throttle your processor to a slower clock speed to keep it cool and, in the case of laptops, prolong battery life. In theory, such throttling schemes should let your CPU clock speed ramp up smoothly on demand, but in practice there's a short time lag before this happens, sufficient to result in audio interruptions and, therefore, clicks and pops. The only safe way to prevent this happening is to make sure your processor always runs at its top speed.

Disable Hibernation

From the Power Options applet, select the Hibernation page and un-tick the box labelled 'Enable hibernation'.

Disable System Sounds
Select the 'No Sounds' scheme on the Sounds tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices applet.

Disable Taskbar Auto-hide 
Right-click on a blank area of the taskbar. Choose 'Properties', and un-tick the box labelled 'Auto-hide the Taskbar' (above left).

Although you lose a little screen space by leaving the Taskbar permanently on display, your audio will no longer be interrupted each time the Taskbar is hidden or reappears. 


Turn Off Automatic Updates 

Select the Automatic Updates tab from control panel in the System applet if your music PC isn't Internet-enabled. If it is Internet-enabled, instead select the 'Notify me but don't automatically download or install them' option. If you hear of a particular update file that will improve audio performance, you can still download and install it manually. 

Disable Fast User Switching 
From the User Accounts applet, click on 'Select the way users log on or off'. Un-tick the 'Use Fast User Switching' box and then 'Apply Options'. This will ensure that if you have multiple users logging on and off your PC, they will be forced to close down their applications before they log off, so that there are none still running in the background and consuming system resources when you log on and start your audio ones. 

Remove Desktop Background Image 

Select the Desktop page of Display applet and select '(None)' for the Background wallpaper setting. 

Disable Screensaver 
To permanently disable the screensaver, just open the Display applet, navigate to its Screensaver page and select '(None)'. 

Disable Internet Synchronise Time

Navigate to the Internet Time page of the Date and Time applet and un-tick the option labelled 'Automatically synchronise with an Internet time server'.

Ignore Driver Signing 


 
On the Hardware page of the System applet, click the Driver Signing button and select 'Ignore — Install the software anyway and don't ask for any approval'. Few audio developers pay Microsoft for the privilege of getting their products Windows Logo Tested, so this tweak will bypass all those annoying 'are you sure?' messages each time you install new software.


Disable Error Reporting 


In the advanced page of the System applet, select the Advanced page, click on its 'Error Reporting' button and select the radio button labelled 'Disable error reporting'. In the event of an application fault, this will prevent your PC attempting to send a report to Microsoft.

Ada beberapa tips yang dapat menjadi pertimbangan bagi kita untuk memilih keyboard controller sehingga keyboard yang kita beli sesuai dengan kebutuhan kita. 1. Touch Jika Anda seorang pianis maka pilihlah yang semi weightened atau hard hammered, tetapi jika Anda seorang keyboarbdis yang ingin memainkan keyboard dengan cepat maka pilihlah keyboard dengan touch yang ringan karena dengan touch yang ringan dapat mempermudah permainan anda. 2. Banyaknya tuts Jika ingin memainkan piano maka pilihlah tuts dengan jumlah minimal 61 keys atau bahkan 88, tetapi jika Anda ingin memainkan syntheziser maka Anda dapat membeli keyboard dengan jumlah tuts 25 atau 49, keyboard dengaj tuts yang memiliki sedikit tuts ini juga dapat menjadi pilihan jika Anda sering menggunakannya secara mobile. Beberapa vendor juga membuat mini keyboard kontoller misalnya korg nano keys, korg micro usb dengan jumpah tuts 37, dan m-audio keystation 32 mini.Keyboard ukuran pendek seperti 25 atau 49 sangat memudahkan pemain synth untuk bereksplorasi dengan nada-nada octaf tinggi ataupun rendah dengan sangat cepat karena dilengkapi dengan tombol octave up dan down. 3. Fader dan pad Beberapa vendor membuat keyboard controller dengan tambahan fungsi fader yang berfungsi sebagai pengontrol volume, panning, tombol rec,stop dan lain-lain yang akan memudahkan melakukan proses take tanpa menggunakan mouse. Demikian juga pad yang berfungsi untuk bermain drum atau perkusi. Contoh keyboard dengan fitur seperti ini adalah m-audio Axiom , novation nocturn dan lain sebagainya. Memang keyboard dengan fungsi-fungsi di atas lebih baik dan mahal karena ada control surface yang terintegrasi di dalamnya. 4. Knob pitch bend dan modulasi Beberapa vendor membuat pitch bend dan modulasi berupa tombol seperti korg nano, keystation 32 mini, cme m-keys 49 Dan lainnya. Jika Anda menginginkan kemudahan maka pilihan tombol mungkin pebih baik,tetapi jika sudah terbiasa menggunakan slider maka pilihlah keyboard controller yang memiliki slider pitch bend dan modulasi karena kemampuan eksplorasi memang lebih baik jika menggunakan model slider. Mungkin beberapa opsi diatas dapat membantu Anda memilih keyboard yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan Anda....
